Following the same philosophy of the 115’ system, Cariboni developed a canting and lifting keel of the pure racer Wilke 49’ “WildLady”.
The main specifications of this installation are:
- Bulb weight: 1500 kg
- Fin overall lenght: 3400 mm
- Overall boat weight: 4500 kg
- Cating keel angle: +/- 40°
- Lifting keel maximum height: 1200 mm
In this system, the canting system is driven by two lightweight aluminium cylinders with integraed linear sensors.
The cylinders have rods in 17-4-PH and both terminals with spherical bearings.
The fin is made at CNC milling machine, starting from a 3400mm solid block of 17-4-PH steel:
the fin has no fearing and the upper part slides on the keelbox when lifted.
The keel can be lifted once in central position, and it can be unlocked manually.
A Magic Trim cylinder is connected to the keel head with the sheet.
Both canting and lifting system are fully manually:
the hydraulic power is generated by two rotating pumps - eight pistons connected to a pedestal.
Two high pressure manual double valves control the canting cylinders and the Magic Trim.
To lift the fin it’s necessary to move the keel in the center, remove the pins, which keep the keel head in the box and lifted up using the Magic Trim.
The same system can be automatized with a PLC, manifolds and powerpack.
